When working out how much funding can be allocated to each Participant the NDIS uses a TSP (Typical Support Package) this is based on:

  • Disability
  • Functional Ability
  • Support Required
  • Level of Support Required
  • Services Required
  • Level of Services Required

TSP’s aim to provide an annual benchmark funding level of support for participants with similar support needs and characteristics. TSPs assist the NDIA with monitoring the financial sustainability of the Scheme.

Given this example the NDIS worked out the following TSP

Previous TSP

Core Support: $46,189.16

Capacity Building Support: $39,125.00

Capital Support: $78,11.60

Total: $93,125.76

Generated TSP

Core Support: $239,602.50

Capacity Building Support: $36,092.46

Capital Support: $30,168.00

Total: $305,862.96

Actual TSP

Core Support: $117,415.26

Capacity Building Support: $45,154.92

Capital Support: $39,293.75

Total: $201,863.93

From these figures you can see that they expect to have to fund this participant with $104,000+ more than they are actually doing.
